Collision Test Lab

The Collision Test Lab assesses and analyzes the degree to which a passenger is injured or displaced, the collision nature of vehicles, fuel leak, and damage to a vehicle during collision by recreating an accident using the methods designated in the relevant laws and regulations. Our lab is also equipped with test facilities for the research and development of various safety parts and vehicles.

Impact Test Lab

The Impact Test Lab researches and assesses the efficacy of various safety devices such as seat belts, air bags and seats, as well as the safety of the car body including side doors, roof and bumpers during a collision. Currently, our lab participates in the development of pedestrian-friendly high tech safety vehicles, development of a next-generation high tech intelligent air bag, engineering and test assessment for building a train collision test, and development of senior-friendly safety improvement technologies assigned by the government. Our lab is equipped with internal impact test devices to assess the shock absorption of the instrument panel, steering system, seat back and room mirror, body test devices to assess the body strength safety of the seat belt attachment device, seats, side doors, and roof, collision simulators to assess the dynamic performance of seat belts, seats and door locks, bumper testing devices, single-item test devices to evaluate the safety of single items such as seats and door lock and pedestrian damage assessment devices to assess the safety of pedestrian protection, which has recently been developed.

Performance Test on Road Safety Facilities

The purpose of a performance test is to provide road users with a safer environment by assessing the safety and functions of road safety facilities and to reduce the amount of damage caused by traffic accidents and promote a smoother traffic flow. For this purpose, our lab is equipped with the relevant test facilities.

Electromagnetic Wave Test Lab

The Wave Test Lab is equipped with test facilities for the electromagnetic wave tolerance test (EMS)—which assesses whether or not various electronic devices in a vehicle are protected from external waves that may cause interruption or malfunctions—and for the electromagnetic wave radiation test (EMI), which assesses the degree of interruption of electronic or telecommunication devices of other vehicles by vehicle electromagnetic waves.

Noise Test Lab

The Noise Test Lab conducts various R&D activities related to vehicle noise such as engine noise, tire noise, muffler noise and interior noise, noise comparison test between fuels, development test of various noise absorption materials, accelerated driving noise test, emission noise test, horn test and tire test, which are examined on the noise test road.

Light and Visibility Test Lab

The lighting test lab is equipped with facilities for measuring and assessing the photometric performances of vehicle lighting and general lighting devices such as headlamps, stop lamp, reflective materials and so on. The visibility test lab is a facility for measuring the direct/indirect and forward vision of the driver. It is possible to check whether the chassis or other parts interface with the driver's vision and to measure the specification of vehicles and parts.

Environment Test Lab

The Environment Test Lab assesses how a vehicle adapts to the external environment such as temperature, humidity, rain and wind. Especially, our lab provides tests on visibility recovery devices (windshield wiper, frost/mist remover, cleaner injector) and recovery capability of acceleration control devices to secure vehicle safety, possessing high-/low-temperature chambers and conducting the relevant tests.

Engine Test Lab

The Engine Test Lab conducts R&D(improvement of engine performance and emission-reducing devices) as well as certification tests(engine power, DPF) on vehicle engines
In addition, the lab participates in the enactment and revision of domestic/international safety standards related to motor and power train

Emissions Test Lab

The Emissions Test Lab measures the exhaust emissions and fuel consumption rate of vehicles. Our lab conducts tests in accordance with the EAP and CARB emissions regulation standards from the USA, Japan and Europe as well as domestic regulation standards. In addition to vehicles, our lab is equipped with comprehensive test facilities for assessing the performance of various parts and additives.

The Environmental and Propulsion Performance Test Lab. of L-Category conducts R&D as well as certification tests such as noncompliance checks, measurement of Efficiency of Reduction Gear etc., and testing on exhaust emissions(including Green house gases) of L-Category In addition, the lab participates in the enactment and revision of domestic/international regulation harmonization related to L-category
